It is growing as a safe and effective method for treating cardiac arrythmias, however, there are also risks and costs associated. Electrophysiology devices require connectors that can accommodate signal and high voltage channels, as well as high contact density and reliability. The connectors also need to fit in the catheter handle and be easy to mate and demate.
