Smiths Interconnect, a leading provider of technically differentiated electronic components, subsystems, microwave, optical and radio frequency products, and a business of Smiths Group plc, has secured recognition of its sustainability practices from global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) assessment platform, EcoVadis. For the second consecutive year, Smith Interconnect has received the prestigious “Committed” badge for continued strong performance in managing environmental, labour, human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement best practices.
EcoVadis’ “Committed” status recognises companies who demonstrate active use of more than 45 of 100 defined best practices in sustainability. These are based on guidelines from the Global Reporting Initiative and the United Nations Global Compact. The badge is presented following successful completion of a rigorous 12- to 16-week review of submitted company and external media, press, trade union and government sources data in a verification process called ‘360° Watch Findings.’
As a result of an increased emphasis placed on implementing good sustainability practices within the business, Smiths Interconnect rose 9 points this year, achieving an overall score of 57/100 points.
Josh Harvey, General Counsel and Smiths Interconnect ESG Lead said: “I am delighted Smiths Interconnect’s commitment to ethical business has been rewarded with a second consecutive EcoVadis Committed badge. This marked increase is a testament to the dedication and rigour of colleagues around the world, and strengthens our position with customers, suppliers, and partners who value sustainability and transparency as we do”.
Since its founding in 2007, EcoVadis has grown to become a trusted global corporate sustainability ratings provider, with a network of over 150,000 rated companies. EcoVadis assessments are conducted annually.
