L Series

High Density Modular Connector

Smiths Interconnects’ L Series comes with frames in various lengths to accommodate a variety of module combinations. The frames range from a basic frame with just 2 side rails and 2 end caps, to more complex versions with jackscrews, backshells, cable clamps, etc. One of the many advantages of the Hypertac® contact used is its low extraction and insertion forces. In this application it enables the user to assemble large numbers of contacts into a connector which is still able to mate and unmate smoothly and easily.

Features & Benefits

L Series Connectors are high density, modular, rack & panel connectors that include coax and high current contacts up to 200 A. The L series is used in high demanding of applications where the environment requires durability, ruggedization and extended operating life. Utilizing Hypertac® hyperboloid contact technology the interconnects offer high mating cycles (up to 100,000) combined with low insertion and extraction mating forces, as well as unsurpassable immunity to shock and vibration. This modular building block system enables for custom connectors with large numbers of contacts to be configured in to a single frame. Therefore, the user is capable of selecting and customizing the connector to meet the exact requirements with off the shelf components and shortened lead times.

  • Mixed signal, power, and coaxial modules
  • Provides up to 200 amp power
  • Cable to chassis and rack & panel; Plastic backshell with strain relief and half turn quick disconnect jackscrew
  • Float mountable for blind mating
  • Configurations compliant to EN45545 standardsDifferent signals
  • Large offering thanks to the modularity
  • High reliability contact technology
  • Several locking devises and hood are proposed

L Series Connects for Therapeutic System

An early stage medical product development company was developing a non-invasive product which uses externally applied low temperatures to cause fat cells to die and be absorbed into the body. For the cable connection between the head that delivers the patient therapy and their device, they needed a custom connector which combined power, signal, and fluid connections with a simple to actuate locking device.
